Milestones and meals

Celebrating my 40th birthday is naturally a huge milestone, which brings on an immense level of stress and anticipation of how to celebrate. Thankfully, I am sharing some positive news; my birthday celebrations were the best ever.

The celebrations started on Friday night as a few of my nearest and dearest best friends informed me that they are kicking off the celebratory weekend by making me a Friday night dinner. This was the best news ever as it meant that I had plenty time to get ready for my birthday which actually fell over the weekend.

On arrival to my friend’s house, I was greeted with Rosé champagne and an abundance of canapes: Liver Pate, Smoked Salmon, Crudité with Hummus and my all-time favourite Sausages with Honey! We then moved into the dining room where I was greeted with a beautifully decorated table. At this point, I have to note the level of attention and thought that went into the dinner, it can only be described as perfection. The menu consisted of Gluten-Free Challah which was served warm Chicken Soup, Roast Beef with all the trimmings… Roasted Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Heritage Carrots, Green Beans, Red Cabbage, Mushroom Gravy and Gluten-Free Yorkshire Puddings! And no meal is ever complete without dessert, especially in my friend Vicky’s household. Dessert consisted of the following: Sticky Toffee Pudding, Fruit Salad, Honeycomb Ice Cream and Gluten-Free Chocolate Birthday Cake! So thoughtful and heart-warming!

The evening was truly spectacular, and I was certainly filled to the brim with deliciousness. Nothing beats a dinner made by your besties!

Saturday – The Big 40!

The morning started off just as it should, surrounded by my loved ones and an abundance of love and surprises. After an eventful morning, myself and a few of my besties headed off to celebrate my birthday at The Ned Hotel in the heart of the City of London. My celebrations were solely focused around the food on this weekend, and the best part was that I didn’t have to worry or stress in the kitchen, everything was looked after and under control. My agenda for the weekend was to let go and enjoy!

On arriving at The Ned Hotel, which I must point out, is the most exquisite hotel; I was blown away by the décor and the incredible atmosphere which was full of decadent amenities and warm and welcoming staff. We had brunch on the roof (private members & hotel guests only) which was a real treat and the views across the roof terrace were breath-taking. We all tucked into our favourites whether it was eggs or house salad, I opted for a succulent steak and chips, it was all filled with deliciousness and thoroughly enjoyed.

Next stop was to get pampered and ready for the evening ahead. Now this wouldn’t be an honest post, If I didn’t admit that I had one major drama on the day… My lovely boyfriend purchased two exquisite dresses for my birthday weekend from my favourite dress designer, Body Frock, whose dresses are both ageless and timeless. Although, a slight drama occurred when I checked my wardrobe and my dress carrier was nowhere to be found. After checking my Instagram story, I realised it wasn’t on the trolley with all our luggage, and the only option was to track down the Uber driver. Not an easy task to say the least! However, thankfully, my dresses were returned and the party celebrations got on their way.

Later that evening, a group of friends and I dined at Kaia in The Ned Hotel an Asian-Pacific-inspired restaurant specialising in healthy food. The food and atmosphere was light, easy and simple and it was the perfect setting to celebrate.

On Sunday, I arranged to end the weekend by attending The Ned hotel’s famous Sunday Feast. I have to say that there’s nowhere in London quite like it. I had 25 guest who came to indulge in what I would describe as London’s best kept secret for dining on a Sunday. The vibe was electric and so was the food, it certainly lives up to its name, ‘The Feast’.

And no event of mine ever goes a miss without presenting my guests with a goody bag! A massive thank you to all my lovely friends at the following companies for showering us with their deliciousness.
